Design the cover to read small
A mockup shows the cover at an angle and smaller than the print file, so the masthead and one or two big cover lines carry it. Very small type will not be readable in a mockup, and the AI can garble it. Check the real print proof for small text.

US magazines are mostly Letter size (8.5 x 11 inches); much of the rest of the world uses A4. Export the cover at that shape, without crop marks, so the mockup shows the true proportions.

Will the cover text stay exact?

The small lines, such as "12 easy fixes" and "Recipes · Gardens · Craft", had wrong letters in every shot. Keep cover lines large, run a shot again if a word changes, and use the image for previews rather than for proofreading.
Can I show an open spread?
Yes. Upload the spread itself (both pages side by side as one wide image) and tap "Open magazine". If you upload only the cover and ask for an open magazine, the AI has to invent the inside pages; it is told to keep them as plain pictures with no readable words.
Which magazine size should I upload?
Upload the cover at the shape you print. The common sizes are US Letter (8.5 x 11 inches) and A4 (210 x 297 mm); digest (5.5 x 8.5 inches) and square formats are used too. The AI keeps the shape of your upload, so the mockup matches the real issue.
